About the Job

Are you a motivated, problem-solver with a passion for helping people? In this position, the ability to multitask and be flexible is crucial as resident requests can change day to day. Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to, fulfilling work orders (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.), appliance repairs and exterior maintenance. In addition, maintenance technicians often have to respond to after-hour emergencies and will be required to participate in the on-call rotation 1-2 weeks a month. 

This role reports directly to the Service Manager at their home community, who has the primary authority to determine the exact “day-to-day” duties of the Service Assistant/Technician. This determination will take into consideration the assistant’s skills, experience, career goals, and the needs of the property.

  • High school diploma required
  • Associate’s degree from technical college desirable
  • Trade certifications desirable

Skill Set

  • Experience using power tools 
  • Communication with onsite team and residents 
  • Organization in following up with work orders in a timely manner 
  • Friendly and willing to assist residents in need  
  • Demonstrate professionalism in navigating maintenance emergencies
  • Caring and empathetic of resident concerns 
  • Responsible and proudly takes ownership of their work 
  • Self-Motivated and able to troubleshoot problems independently

Other Requirements

  • Must be legally able to work in the United States
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation 
  • Must be willing to work Monday – Friday 
  • Hours of work are dependent upon community’s hours
  • Must be willing to work on-call rotation as scheduled 
  • Overtime will fluctuate as needed for emergencies

Physical Requirements

  • Extensive mobility and excellent physical condition. 
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. necessary for installation and removal of appliances. 
  • Ability to operate all necessary hand tools to make repairs. 
  • Ability to kneel, crouch, climb, crawl, etc. to reach items in need of repairs. 
  • Ability to drive to and from job sites. 
  • Tolerance to all extremes of hot and cold weather, as may be necessary.
